Green Currency: Plants in the Economy opens April 20th, 2011 at The New York Botanical Garden. This international juried exhibition features original artwork depicting plants of economic significance. Forty-three pieces selected by jurors Michael Balick, Director of the Institute of Economic Botany, Susan Fraser, Director of the Mertz Library at the New York Botanical Garden, and artist Katie Lee. Artists included in the show represent 14 states and 8 countries. Gold, silver and bronze medals for excellence will be awarded by The New York Botanical Garden, the first ever medals for an ASBA exhibition. The team of award jurors will be led by Dr. Shirley Sherwood, renowned patron of contemporary botanical art.
